Member Scholarships

Rocky Mountain Smiths offers scholarship grants to its members

  1. This must be a hands-on class or workshop.  No funding will be provided for sit and watch type conferences.
  2. The amount of the Scholarship grant is up to $ 500.00.
  3. You must have been a member of RMS for at least 1 year before you can apply for a grant.
  4. After you receive a scholarship grant;
    • You will write a 2-page illustrated article for Forge Facts
    • You will give a 2-hour demonstration at a RMS workshop, showing the skills that you learned in the class you attended.

Youth Grants

The Jacobs Memorial fund has grants available for people age 16 to18.  All of the above rules apply, but you may have help from a mentor during your demo.

Scholarship Process

1. The Scholarship Committee evaluates your application and decides whether you should receive an award on the basis of available funds, number of current applications, and perceived benefits of the class or workshop.

2. You will be notified by mail, email, or phone of your award.

3. After the class is over, you submit a copy of a certificate, receipt, or other proof that you have successfully completed the class or workshop.

4. RMS will then send you a check for the amount of the scholarship award.
